First Mireya must make the dress or the shirt out of Rayon or cotton fabric. Then she traces the designs of the flowers and birds, then begins embroidering. Since Mireya only works in the afternoons after she finishes teaching, some of her products take weeks or months to finish. The flowers and birds represent the typical flora and fauna of the this northern part of the state of Oaxaca. The bright colors are reminiscent of the beautiful colors that can be seen in the Oaxaca country side.
