Hand-made in Kyrgyzstan by local felt artist Makha Uyutky, this scarf combines materials and traditions from two Silk Road Countries: Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekestan. The scarf is completely hand woven from silk and felt. It has classic striped design so it will go well with almost any outfit. Wear it as a shawl in cold winter evening or tie it in variety of ways adding a zest to your style. The scarf is made from silk and decorated with felt design inlays.
Felt is made from local Kyrgyz wool through repeated hand-pressing. Together with Yurts, mountains and nomadic traditions, Felt is an iconographic material that makes up the traditional fabric of this stunning country. The piece you see here is the result of hand-pressing, rolling and joining of Uzbek Silk with Kyrgyz felt (see rolling process below). Each piece is especially designed and hand-crafted by Makha Uyutky in her studio in the city of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
