Two-Toned Yellow Dangle Earrings
To create jewelry, often called fused glass jewelry, Paulina first selects the glass she would like to use and cuts it into the shapes and sizes she will use for the piece. To fuse the glass together, Paulina uses a ceramic oven specifically designed for glass. The oven is heated more than 800 degrees Celsius and the time is usually about 20 minutes depending on how melted the piece is to be. After the piece has cooled, Paulina will add the necessary parts to create either a necklace, earrings, ring or hair barrette. Each piece created is entirely unique. Although some can be made to be similar, no two pieces are ever entirely the same.
Paulina Sanchez Hernandez lives in Mexico City D.F. and has been dedicated to glass art for the last 10 years. She has taken various courses in glass art and specializes in a variety of styles from mosaic glass art, lead glass windows and decorations, glass painting, and glass jewelry making. Paulina is currently selling her glass jewelry and mosaic candle holders in the Jovenes Artisanos store.
